It’s been six weeks since Boxroom was announced. Boxroom is the home designer meets building sim game that turns your Steam library into a ‘physical’ collection. The developers have said there has been a lot of people trying the free demo and later this month Boxroom will be released on Steam via Early Access. The team mentioned that an example of some of what they have seen so far includes childhood bedrooms, museums, and backrooms.
Boxroom has gained almost 50,000 wishlists since the initial reveal. Since then there have also been over 53,000 demo downloads as word of mouth spreads.
The developers over at Nested Loop have been implementing new features and optimizing the game, some of which is based on the community feedback they have received through the demo period. The Early Access launch of the game will feature the DIY, 90s and office themed catalogues, with subsequent updates during the early access period following different themes. The team has also teased some exciting partnerships but won’t go into details quite yet.
In addition to everything players may have seen in the Demo, the Early Access release of Boxroom brings over 230 unique items and furnishings, new catalogue types, Steam Workshop support, and a new Photo Mode for showing off your room in the best way possible.
Boxroom is slated to enter Steam’s Early Access program later this month on May 26, 2026. Will you be playing it? Have you downloaded the demo? Tell us what you think on Bluesky and Twitter.
