505 Pulse, the indie-focused publishing label of Digital Bros Group, and Swedish developer Nicklas Nygren have shared that a Steam Playtest for their rhythm-platformer where movement and music become one, Rhythm Doggo, is now open to everyone.

Featuring a “living” soundtrack that evolves in real-time, this platform adventure invites you to take on the role of a dog and create music as you go. A blend of a rhythm game and an exploration platformer, your movements and actions shape the soundscape around you as you progress, and you’ll have a doggone good time while doing so.

The first test went live on June 15 exclusively to a limited number of players on the game’s Discord, with feedback (and a lot of barking) gathered from players. The playtest offers a first taste of what makes Rhythm Doggo tick: a procedural soundtrack that reshapes itself around the player’s every move. Music isn’t the backdrop here; it’s the engine. Movement, exploration, and puzzles all feed the beat, and the beat feeds right back, in the tradition Nifflas has been refining since Knytt Stories and Ynglet.

Rhythm Doggo Premiers New Demo Playable in Chinese at ChinaJoy 2026

Making its first live debut at ChinaJoy 2026, Asia’s largest entertainment expo, Rhythm Doggo will be playable on the show floor from July 31 through August 3 at the Shanghai New International Expo Center. Attendees can go hands-on with Rhythm Doggo throughout the show, fully localized in Simplified Chinese: a first for the game, and a statement of intent. Adding to its ChinaJoy presence, Rhythm Doggo has also been nominated for the ChinaJoy × Game Connection Game Development Awards in the Best Music & Sound category, recognizing the game’s distinctive audio-driven design. Nygrens’ procedural soundscapes speak a universal language; now the rest of the game does too. Visitors who stop by will experience Rhythm Doggo’s living, ever-shifting soundtrack exactly as intended: loud, reactive, and impossible to stand still to.

Rhythm Doggo will be available for PC via Steam in 2027. A demo of the game is available to play via via Steam Playtest now. Take a look at the video and then tell us what you think on Bluesky and Twitter.
