Today, Capcom is unleashing a free demo for Monster Hunter Wilds on Nintendo Switch 2. Monster Hunter Wilds is also now available for pre-order via the Nintendo eShop in preparation of the action RPG’s upcoming release on December 4, 2026.
The Monster Hunter Wilds Prologue Demo offers hunters the chance to get a head start on their expedition into the Forbidden Lands. All progress from the demo will seamlessly carry over to the full game, allowing hunters to continue the adventure right where they left off.
The demo features the full opening of Monster Hunter Wilds, including the game’s robust character creator, where players can design their own custom Hunter and Palico partner. Hunters can also catch a glimpse of the story and get a taste of the action by taking on monsters in the Windward Plains. While the demo is offline only, hunters can form a party on Nintendo Switch 2 with wireless local play to enjoy multiplayer.
The Monster Hunter Wilds base game is available for pre-order via the Nintendo eShop. Players who pre-order by December 3 will receive an early adopter discount ($29.99), plus the “Guild Knight Set” layered armor and “Hope Charm” Talisman as bonuses. The physical Monster Hunter Wilds Deluxe Edition is also currently available for pre-order via retailers for $39.99 and includes the base game and Deluxe Pack cosmetic items.
When Monster Hunter Wilds launches for Nintendo Switch 2 on December 4, it will arrive with all Title Update content including the Grand Hub; additional monsters including Mizutsune, Lagiacrus, Seregios, and the elder dragon Gogmazios; the Final Fantasy XIV Online collaboration; additional challenges; and more. The Nintendo Switch 2 version will also include cross-play, supporting online multiplayer with other platforms.
Now is a great time for hunters to jump into Monster Hunter Wilds and prepare for the challenges ahead, as the game’s massive expansion Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance is coming in 2027 for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
