Echoes of the End, the debut title from Icelandic studio Myrkur Games, arrives on Sony’s PlayStation Plus subscription service today alongside a brand-new update adding a photo mode and Valentine’s Day themed outfits.
The action-adventure will be available on PlayStation Plus for the next year for Extra and Premium subscribers.
First released in August 2025 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC (Steam), Echoes of the End is a magical adventure that introduces Myrkur Games as a new voice in creative storytelling. Based in Reykjavík, the small, dedicated team of developers and storytellers are driven by a shared love for immersive, cinematic worldbuilding.

To bring their vision to life, the team spent several years building custom pipelines for motion capture, photogrammetry, and performance animation, ensuring every scene feels authentic, grounded, and emotionally impactful.
A brand-New Update for all Platforms
An update across all game versions adds a photo mode, allowing players to document and share their adventures in the world of Aema. New Valentine’s Day-themed outfits have also been added for lead characters Ryn and Abram, while a number of bug fixes ensure Echoes of the End has never played better.
A Personal Story on an Epic Scale
Players take on the role of Ryn, a vestige, a rare individual born with the power to control ancient and volatile magic. As she sets out to rescue her brother from a brutal empire on the brink of war, she must uncover a conspiracy that could reignite an ancient conflict and plunge the world of Aema into chaos.
Powered by Unreal Engine 5 and driven by themes of trust, sacrifice and redemption, Echoes of the End unfolds across ten hand-crafted chapters filled with cinematic moments, memorable characters and high-stakes decisions.

A Game Reborn
Towards the end of 2025, the team released the Enhanced Edition of Echoes of the End, a free overhaul full of improvements and features players had been requesting following the game’s initial launch back in August. These included faster pacing, reworked animations, new difficulty levels, equipment, and more, which led to a jump in Steam reviews to 85% positive since the overhaul’s release.
Halldór Snær Kristjánsson, CEO of Myrkur Games, said: “Our community is incredibly important to us, and their valuable feedback helped us bring the game to the level we always envisioned it. We’re delighted to be bringing the Echoes of the End to PlayStation Plus alongside new in-game content as a thank you to the support of our players, and we especially can’t wait to see their creativity with the new photo mode feature.”
