Activision has announced that big things are in store for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, slated for release on October 23, 2026. Alongside the campaign and multiplayer, Infinity Ward is introducing the franchise’s definitive extraction shooter, DMZ. Set in the massive Hajin Exclusion Zone, players will deploy solo or in squads into an ever-changing world shaped by rival Operators, dynamic weather, evolving objectives, and increasingly dangerous enemy forces.

DMZ combines story-driven missions, side operations, looting and crafting systems, a player-driven Bounty system, and a deep progression system, all built for replayability. Whether players are hunting high-value targets, searching for rare gear, or simply trying to make it out alive, every deployment offers a different path through Hajin.

DMZ also benefits from the advancements in movement and combat systems introduced in Modern Warfare 4, including enhanced traversal options like climbing pipes and navigating environmental obstacles with fluidity, alongside refined weapon handling, ballistic authority, and other mechanics that carry across the broader game experience.

Earlier today at the XBOX Showcase, a video was released highlighting what fans can expect from this new mode. Check it out and tell us what you think on Bluesky and Twitter about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 and the DMZ mode. Will you play this new mode?
